This is a short one. If you travel often, you might know that top-tier hotel status can be really impactful.
Hyatt is easily my favorite hotel chain. It’s a smaller network than Marriott, Hilton, or IHG, but the product is generally better price/value, more consistent, and has better service. Additionally, since Hyatt is the only hotel chain that still uses a fixed award chart (Hilton, Marriott, and IHG all use dynamic pricing), it is the only hotel chain where you can get outsized value for your points (e.g. Katherine and I are spending 25k Hyatt points/night for the Park Hyatt in Paris which prices out at $1,250+/night during our stay on cash).
While top tier Hyatt status usually requires 60 nights stayed in a calendar year, Hyatt is currently running a quiet invite-only promo for corporate customers that you and I can get in on (with some persistence) to get status now through 2023 and part of 2024.
This TPG post nicely lays out the benefits of top-tier Hyatt status (Globalist).
Promo details and how to enroll:
Promo details: Stay 20 nights during a 90-day period before the end of February 2023 to earn Hyatt Globalist status. The 90 days start from the first day that you check out of a Hyatt stay after enrolling in the promotion.
You have to reach out to Hyatt to get them to enroll you in the promotion. This can be done through the following channels
Calling: 800-544-9288. Ask them to enroll you in the “20 nights in 90 days challenge.” If rejected, ask to speak with a manager. If rejected again, hang up and call again.
I did this 6 times and was rejected each time being told that this offer was only available for targeted customers
Facebook Messenger: Message Hyatt on Facebook. I used the following language and was instantly approved:
I used the following language “I would like to please to enroll in the “Quick Qualify“ promotion which allows globalist status after 20 nights stay. I cannot find this offer but I know it exists as I have had friends enroll. I have upcoming stays which are currently booked with another hotel chain and I would switch those if the offer was available to me.“
Twitter direct message. The same idea as Facebook Messenger
How to hack your way to 20 nights if you cannot hit that with organic stays
Hyatt has a partnership with MGM. MGM stays count as Hyatt stays if your account number is registered with MGM. MGM’s “Excalibur” property in Vegas usually goes for $25/night which works well for a “mattress run.”
Hyatt also has category 1 properties that can be booked off-peak for 3,500 points. This is another good way to juice your numbers.
How I plan to benefit from my Hyatt Globalist status:
Hyatt stays upcoming: Andaz Vienna, Park Hyatt Paris, Hyatt Regency Madrid, Park Hyatt Tokyo, Hyatt Regency Kyoto, Sankara Resort, Park Hyatt Zanzibar (Guest of Honor booking for my parents), and work trips
At the Andaz Vienna, Park Hyatt Paris, Park Hyatt Tokyo, Hyatt Regency Kyoto, and Park Hyatt Zanzibar, Globalist status entitles you to order unlimited free breakfast (24/7) off of the room service menu. Your bill is wiped clean at checkout. Katherine and I can easily spend $150+/day per person balling out on this perk
At the Park Hyatt Paris, we will benefit from free valet parking
Generally free food, upgrades, parking, etc
